Joseph Smith: Prophet or Poser? (part 2)

This episode is part 2 in a series going through the life of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith, Jr. founded what became known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a. the Mormon church). As we walk through this natural born leader with aspects of his life shrouded in mystery to this day, let’s answer the question: was Joseph Smith a true prophet or a poser?

In part 2 we look at Joseph Smith’s early life from birth up to his first vision. The Smith family moved several times trying to live off the land. They faced illness and crop failure. Joseph Smith as a young boy saved his leg with novel surgery.

While in Palmyra, New York, the Smith family started to make ends meet. Living in an area of revivalist preaching while surrounded by different churches, Joseph was curious for truth. Family members claiming dreams and visions perhaps led a 14-year-old Joseph to expect his own.
